It is reported that on September 1, a container ship of ONE with a capacity of 8110 TEU named "MOL CHARISMA" encountered a cargo hold fire accident in the waters near Sri Lanka.
According to Hapag-Lloyd, member of THE Alliance, the "MOL Charisma" was caught in a fire in cargo hold No. 5 on the way about 250 miles east of Sri Lanka. At the time of the incident, the cargo ship was heading for Nhava Sheva from Port Klang.
At present, the crew has controlled the fire.
It is reported that the crew controlled the fire by discharging carbon dioxide into the cabin, and the ship was transferred to Colombo for inspection. Shipping company Hapag-Lloyd stated that there were no injuries and no pollution reports. It is assessing any possible impact of the accident on the ship and cargo operations, as well as the date of berthing at the next port for the rotation of the ship.
According to data, the "MOL Charisma" ship served the PS3 route and had called domestic ports such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen and Shekou. In addition to ONE, the co-cabin shipping companies involved include Evergreen Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and Yangming.
As of September 6, the ship "MOL CHARISMA" was still at anchor near Colombo.
