According to local media on the 11th, Lebanon's Beirut port began to resume use this week. The big explosion caused serious damage to the No. 12 warehouse of the port, and the restoration work may take several years to complete.

However, the explosion did not destroy the port’s container terminal, which is responsible for approximately 75% of the port’s work functions, including loading and unloading cargo and import and export operations. There are currently 13 cranes available at the terminal.

The day before, a cargo ship carrying 400 containers docked at the Beirut port terminal and was also the first cargo ship to arrive at the port after the big explosion.
It is understood that the port of Beirut is an important gateway for cargo transportation to Syria, Jordan, Iraq and the countries of the Persian Gulf. With a total area of ​​1.2 million square meters, there are 4 harbor basins, 16 docks and a new container terminal at Pier 16, which can handle 745,000 TEUs per year. There is a dangerous goods warehouse in the port.

The entire port is operated and managed by the Beirut Port Authority. The container terminal business is subcontracted to the Beirut Private Container Terminals Alliance (BCTC), which is the Beirut International Port Management Company (IPMB), the British Portia Management Services Company (PMS) and the US Formed by the American Logistics and Port Management Corporation (LPMA), it began operations in 2005.

There are 16 quay cranes and 51 rubber-tyred gantry cranes in Beirut Port. Pier 16 is 600 meters long and has a draft of 15.5 meters. It can accommodate the world's largest container ship. The terminal is equipped with 6 super Panamax quay cranes and 18 rubber-tyred gantry cranes. According to the scene pictures, the quay crane of the container terminal is standing stubbornly.
