2020 is the craziest year for global maritime logistics! "

In 2020, global shipping logistics started as a nightmare due to the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, but at the end of the year it ushered in unprecedented popularity. This year, foreign trade logistics personnel experienced too many events that were unimaginable before.

Epidemic, live shipping, shortage of containers, skyrocketing freight rates, delays and congestion...When we reach the fork in 2020 and 2021, these words are still in my ears.

Shipping company changes
-Maersk reorganizes on a large scale, Safi Shipping is merged into Maersk, Dan Maers air freight, LCL business and Maersk logistics and service products are integrated, Safi Shipping and Dan Maers brand exit the market before the end of 2020. Due to competition for customers, Maersk and DB Schenker fought.

-Taiping Shipping has contracted routes due to huge debt problems, and developed north-south routes and east-west non-arterial routes; sold its subsidiary Pacific Direct Line and dozens of ships and delayed submission of annual financial statements; Temasek injected capital assistance.

-APL withdrew from Indian subcontinent routes, Middle East routes and Latin America routes in May, and officially withdrew from commercial operations on October 1st, focusing on US government services.

-In September, CMA CGM suffered a cyber attack, which caused the websites of its ANL, CNC and CMA CGM and some IT applications to be temporarily unavailable.

-HMM formally joined the THE Alliance. Its 12 container ships with a capacity of 23,000 TEU were put into use in Asia-Northern Europe. The Alliance adjusted Asia-Europe services.

-South Korean shipowner Heung-A Shipping restructured debts to avoid bankruptcy; Antong Holdings (Antong Holdings) underperformed and suffered huge losses. After being investigated, it went bankrupt and reorganized.
